Linux installation instructions
  1. Save DDNS.rip-Linux-1.0.1.tar.gz in your Downloads folder.
  2. Open a terminal and run:
    cd ~/Downloads
    tar -xzf DDNS.rip-Linux-1.0.1.tar.gz
    cd DDNS.rip-Linux-1.0.1
    ./install.sh
Enter your Ubuntu login password, not the root, TeamViewer or DDNS password. Nothing appears while typing it. Your Ubuntu login needs administrator access. The installer downloads the required Ubuntu packages.
  3. Log out of Linux and log back in. Then open DDNS.rip Dynamic Update Client from Applications.
  4. Set a local application password, enter your DDNS.rip hostname and DDNS username/password, then click Save and Confirm. Leave the server as update.ddns.rip.

Once the status is green and Operational, you can close the window. The service keeps running, even when nobody is logged in.

To upgrade, run the new installer again; your settings are preserved. Tested on Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 (32 / 64-bit), and 24.04 (64-bit). Requires working Ubuntu package repositories and current CA certificates. Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04 are not supported.
